In partnership with solar array supplier/ designer, 510Nano, and with electrical installer, M.L. Schmitt, PEER Consultants, P.C. (PEER) participated in the design/build of a 40 kWh grid-tied, pole-mount, solar photovoltaic, fixed array energy system on behalf of the Town of Deerfield, MA. The new solar energy system was constructed on land surrounding the Old Deerfield Wastewater Treatment Plant (ODWWTP) and is the first of several such installations around the plant to maximize the solar electricity production of the site. Energy produced will meet both the generation and net metering goals of the Town.
PEER provided all site and environmental permitting and coordination with the local conservation commission, the civil/site layout and design, analysis of site PV capacity and impacts of shadows, PV solar array layout design and configuration, geotechnical sampling and structural analysis of existing subsurface conditions for foundation design, and overall coordination of the solar development.
By entering into an Energy Management Services agreement, this project was funded through a Green Communities Grant (GCG), as well as though funds from the MA Department of Energy Resources (DOER) Drinking Water and Wastewater Facilities (DW WW) Clean Energy Grant, and through Town of Deerfield funds earmarked for Energy Efficiency initiatives.
