The Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Technician is responsible for providing CADD services to support a team comprised of Project Engineers and Project Managers for all company design projects.


Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent course work in computer aided design curriculum with 4 years of progressive experience in environmental, civil, and pipeline design; or, a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate, with 6 years of progressive experience in environmental, civil, and pipeline design.

  • Completion of formalized AutoCAD® training courses and/or certification at a recognized institution is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices in the AutoCAD® environment.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering design.

  • Ability to read and interpret design standards and specifications, blueprints, drawings, redlines, etc.

  • Must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD® Release 12 or later and 1-2 years of experience with Civil 3D.

The Environmental Scientist will provide support for environmental projects including Phase I and Phase II, Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), asbestos and lead-based paint inspections, NEPA assessments, wetlands and forest stand delineations, and field work as assigned.

This position assigned to engineering projects across all PEER disciplines, provides as needed Professional Engineering (PE) geotechnical engineering expertise and guides the work junior and mid-level engineers.


Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 13 years of Civil Engineering related experience including at least 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience is preferred; a Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 15 years of Civil Engineering related experience including at least 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience is the minimum acceptable.

PEER is seeking an environmental and/or civil engineer. The focus of this position will be on training and obtaining practical experience in the delivery of environmental and civil engineering professional services drawing on knowledge acquired during academic study. Scientific and engineering principles will be used and applied to achieve PEER’s mission statement and to support senior engineers and project managers in solving our clients’ projects. The Fundamentals of Engineering certification is required, or the candidate must be on track to take and pass the certification. Other professional and management certifications should be earned as the candidate progresses in experience.


Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field, with a minimum of 1 - 3 years of related experience. Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering would be preferred.

  • Knowledge of energy management, water quality management, hazardous waste management, air quality management, policy and impacts of climate change is highly desired.

  • Knowledge of general civil and environmental engineering fields of study and applications.

  • Knowledge of environmental remediation such as site investigation and remediation, soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation and pilot studies.

  • Knowledge of presentation software such as Adobe Photoshop.

  • Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools is desirable.

  • Computer Skills: Must have proficiency in MS Office Suite. Must have knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS software tools.

This position assigned to engineering and construction management projects across all PEER disciplines, assists a resident engineer, provides full resident inspection/engineering services independently or manages a team of resident inspectors/engineers.


Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 4 years of experience in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related industry; a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or an Associate's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 7 years of relevant; or a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.

Experience with construction of underground pipelines and/or water/wastewater pumping stations required. Experience including street paving and/or electrical and mechanical systems a plus.

  • Driver’s license and a personal vehicle is required (job related mileage reimbursed).

  • Personal smart phone is required (laptop computer and/or tablet will be provided per project requirements).

  • OSHA 10 Hour construction training certificate is required.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screening.

The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and support for environmental engineering and sciences projects and programs, including general civil engineering, energy efficiency, conservation and sustainability in the built environment. Emphasis is on the physical and human environments.

Scientific and engineering principles will be used and applied to achieve PEER’s Mission and to support Senior Engineers and Project Managers in solving our clients’ environmental problems with transformative, sustainable, and appropriate solutions. Passing the NCEES ‘Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam’ is required in order to hold this position. Or, the candidate must be on track to take and pass the examination. Note: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is generally the first step in the process to becoming a Professional Licensed Engineer (P.E.). As the candidate progresses in their career, other professional and management certifications may be required.


Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. A master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field preferred.

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) license is preferred. Otherwise, must be on track to obtain a EIT certificate within 24 months of hire, either by testing or by reciprocity.

  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in Civil Engineering with focus on environmental engineering and sciences.

  • Strong environmental engineering and sciences background, including knowledge of project phases (planning, administration, field studies, conceptual and detailed project design, program and project documentation, field inspections and oversight, project closeout).

  • Ability to develop project/program appropriate planning and engineering design drawings and specifications.

  • Ability to perform GIS analysis, Access Programming and oversee AUTOCAD drafting to develop plans, is a plus.

  • Must possess excellent oral and written skills, technical problem-solving ability, strong data analysis skills and excellent computer skills.

  • Certifications desired that are appropriate for area of concentration.

The Director is responsible for providing leadership and management of and technical direction to the water and wastewater engineering and sciences section and team. The Director must be able to set high and achievable performance and operational standards for the team; and, encourage the team to meet goals efficiently and professionally. 

The Director is responsible for leading the team to perform planning and feasibility studies, design and preparation of engineering plans and specifications, cost estimates, operations and management programs, value engineering, construction management and project closeout; vertical and horizontal asset management; and energy management services.

Additional responsibilities entail training and mentoring staff; being an active participant in strategic planning initiatives; marketing and business planning, development and execution; proposal preparation; client outreach; and active participation in professional organizations.   


    Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

    • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Ph.D. is preferred. 
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar is desired.
    • Minimum 12 - 15 years of demonstrated experience in engineering modeling, planning and design for water and wastewater systems and associated piping, appurtenances, and related systems (storage, reuse, energy management). 
    • Must have the ability to prepare and review detailed engineering design drawings and specifications.
    • Must have the ability to manage and direct AUTOCAD operations.
    • Must have proven and demonstrated technical grasp of water engineering and sciences.
    • Must have technical experience with scientific studies and engineering design skills in the water media with an emphasis on potable water, storm water, domestic wastewater, and fresh waters of the US.
    • Must have demonstrable experience managing people and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Must possess excellent oral and written skills, with the ability to analyze and solve technical problems. 
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other software applications.
    • Knowledge of pipeline inspection, rehabilitation and condition assessment is highly desired.  
    • Board Certification in Environmental Engineering and Science (AAEES), active membership in professional organizations such as ASCE, AWWA, WEF, etc. is desired.
