Electrical and mechanical inspector responsible for providing full-time inspections associated with the construction upgrades at a wastewater treatment plant in Baltimore, MD. 

  • For on-site equipment installations, inspector will witness the installation and testing of all equipment provided by the construction contractor. The inspector must be present when the equipment manufacturer representatives are on site for certification of their equipment.
  • As the project nears the finishing stages, the inspector will prepare a pre-final inspection report. After pre-final inspection is complete and the construction contractor notifies the inspector that they are ready for final inspection, the inspector will develop a punch list, in CM14, of all outstanding items and transmit this to the construction contractor with a copy to Project Manager.

Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

  • Knowledgeable of Construction Contractor Lock Out/Tag Out rules
  • 5 years’ experience performing electrical and mechanical inspections on construction projects
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook

The Director is responsible for providing leadership and management of and technical direction to the water and wastewater engineering and sciences section and team. The Director must be able to set high and achievable performance and operational standards for the team; and, encourage the team to meet goals efficiently and professionally. 

The Director is responsible for leading the team to perform planning and feasibility studies, design and preparation of engineering plans and specifications, cost estimates, operations and management programs, value engineering, construction management and project closeout; vertical and horizontal asset management; and energy management services.

Additional responsibilities entail training and mentoring staff; being an active participant in strategic planning initiatives; marketing and business planning, development and execution; proposal preparation; client outreach; and active participation in professional organizations.   


    Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

    • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Ph.D. is preferred. 
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar is desired.
    • Minimum 12 - 15 years of demonstrated experience in engineering modeling, planning and design for water and wastewater systems and associated piping, appurtenances, and related systems (storage, reuse, energy management). 
    • Must have the ability to prepare and review detailed engineering design drawings and specifications.
    • Must have the ability to manage and direct AUTOCAD operations.
    • Must have proven and demonstrated technical grasp of water engineering and sciences.
    • Must have technical experience with scientific studies and engineering design skills in the water media with an emphasis on potable water, storm water, domestic wastewater, and fresh waters of the US.
    • Must have demonstrable experience managing people and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Must possess excellent oral and written skills, with the ability to analyze and solve technical problems. 
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other software applications.
    • Knowledge of pipeline inspection, rehabilitation and condition assessment is highly desired.  
    • Board Certification in Environmental Engineering and Science (AAEES), active membership in professional organizations such as ASCE, AWWA, WEF, etc. is desired.

    The Environmental Engineer will be trained and obtain practical experience in the delivery of environmental engineering professional services drawing on knowledge acquired during academic study. Scientific and engineering principles will be use to achieve PEER’s goals and objectives to support senior engineers and project managers. The Fundamentals of Engineering certification is required or the candidate must be on track to take and pass the certification.  Additionally, it is expected that the candidate with qualify for and earn the Professional Engineers license.


    Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field, with a minimum of 0 - 5 years of related experience.  Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering would be a plus.
    • Must have knowledge of energy management, water quality management, hazardous waste management, air quality management, policy and impacts of climate change is highly desired.
    • Must have knowledge of environmental remediation such as site investigation and remediation, soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation and pilot studies. 
    • Must have knowledge of presentation software such as Adobe Photoshop.
    • Must have proficiency in MS Office Suite.
    • AutoCAD and GIS knowledge highly desirable.
    • Must be knowledgeable of Microsoft Project Management or similar management and scheduling tools; Strong analytical skills relating to data review, analysis and evaluation.
    • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required.
