Field Technician I

Burlington, MA

The Energy Consultants identifies, advocates for and advises on energy efficiency improvements in new construction and existing industrial, commercial and multi-family buildings and facilities. Participates in the delivery of cost-effective energy efficiency solutions to commercial buildings while contributing to a mission-driven, creative, enjoyable and stimulating work environment.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to engineers with:

    Water/Wastewater field investigations including stormwater quality monitoring, IDDE investigations, and existing conditions assessments of MH and pipe systems.

    Geotechnical Investigations including field tasks such as soil borings, monitoring well installation, and soil/groundwater sampling.

    Preparation of record drawings

    Potable Water sampling

  • Work as part of a team of engineers, field technicians, and/or resident inspectors.

  • Receives moderate to close supervision depending on the complexity of assignments.

  • Complies with applicable safety rules and regulations.

  • Assumes other related responsibilities from time to time, as required.


Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

  • High School Diploma plus 1-year relevant experience or college course work in related discipline, or an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

  • CAD training, certification and/or experience is a plus.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of computers and tablets

  • Valid driver’s license and personal smart phone are required.

  • Good oral and written communications skills.

  • Ability to walk job sites, sometimes on uneven terrain, and stand for long periods. Ability to wear safety equipment and to carry equipment weighing up to 25 pounds as needed.

  • Bilingual is a plus.
